My high school [Lane Tech - ed] was right next to one of the most popular summer places in Chicago, the Riverview Amusement Park. On hot, late spring days when we got closer to finishing school for the summer vacation, our classroom windows were wide open and we could hear them testing the amusement park rides. The sound made it very hard to concentrate on school subjects! We could even look out of the windows and see the roller coasters running empty around the tracks. How we wished we were riding on them! Riverview had five roller coasters- the Blue Streak, the Comet, the Greyhound, the Flying Turns, and the most scary of all, the Bobs.
